This Tampa engagement session at Picnic Island Park in South Tampa with Kelsey and Cody was perfection from start to finish. Starting off in the fields by the frisbee golf course we took advantage of the large sea grape trees and their changing leaves to duck in and out of the sun while it was still pretty high off the horizon. Perks of having a sunny day is of course the golden hour light and the sunsets. However, when you’re photographing right on the bay the sun can be super bright and reflect off the water which not only blinds everyone but my camera too. For this reason I like to stick to the shaded areas until that sun starts to dip lower on the horizon and then it’s quite literally our time to shine. Recently I’ve come across this hill/mound or I guess in Florida we could technically call it a mountain. ? I’m so glad Kelsey and Cody were up for making the trek to the top for their Tampa engagement session photos because it’s pretty cool to get a different perspective when you’re use to just working on flat land. After a stroll on the beach and a quick outfit change, we proceeded to the second half of the park where the coveted golden hour I was talking about was in full effect. The lighting we captured through the trees before we headed to the beach for some sunset photos was to die for! The sunset was worth the wait and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky as it fell towards the water. Right as it was about to set, I asked Kelsey and Cody to just watch the sunset as I captured the last glow of the evening. And that my friends, is why any Tampa engagement session at Picnic Island Park is always a good idea.
