O

Oh my goodness my heart is SO full being a Tampa family photographer and the Terry family is a big reason why. I met Brooke and Jonathan way back in 2018 when Brooke was graduating from the University of South Florida. I had the pleasure of capturing her grad photos and then in 2019 their maternity photos as they prepared to welcome their first baby girl into the world. Shortly after the pandemic the Terrys moved to California but we recently reconnected for this family session while they vacationed in Florida (after they hit up Disney World of course). It was so wonderful getting to work with them again and meet the newest member of their crew! We had our session at Picnic Island which is one of my favorite spots to shoot. However, because this was only a week after Hurricane Ida and the park completely flooded, the amount of mosquitos were insane! No amount of bug spray could keep them away. Thankfully everyone, especially the girls, were such champs you can’t even tell in the photos we were being eaten alive. The weather also kept us on our toes because it stormed the entire day. Not just a little thunderstorm here and there, like torrential downpour until about 4:30pm. Isn’t Florida fun!? Thankfully the skies cleared and we had the perfect weather for our session. It even felt pleasant outside with a drop in the humidity. The sunset was ultimately blocked out by the clouds on the horizon line, but we still got some gorgeous colors where the clouds let the sun peak through. As a Tampa family photographer I truly cherish getting to capture my clients milestones and watch their families grow. But next time I’m buying the bug spray with the Deet because no amount of natural eucalyptus bug repellent will keep post-hurricane mosquitos away!
