I

I first met Rhiannan and Kyle last year to capture their engagement session at the Dali Museum. The forecast called for rain all day so we woke up early to beat the storms and the crowds. Little did we know this weather was going to be a bit foreshadow-y of the weather for their Vero Beach elopement. Fast forward to 2020, R+K were planning their two-day wedding extravaganza in July when COVID rudely invited itself into the picture. Rhiannan’s family wouldn’t be able to fly down for the wedding which left R+K with a choice, move forward with their wedding without Rhiannan’s family present, postpone the wedding, or elope. They chose a combo of the two- get married now, party later!

Vero Beach is a place close to R+K’s heart so they chose to venture to the east coast of Florida to tie the knot for this Vero Beach elopement. I met up with them at the Kimpton Hotel and Spa where they both got ready together which was just so sweet. They FaceTimed with family throughout the process to approve of hair, makeup, and final looks. Then it was off to the beach! Back to the foreshadow-y weather, it had been raining nonstop all weekend and we were able to find a break in the rain to get these two married. Although it was extremely overcast and super windy, it didn’t rain! That’s 2 for R+K and 0 for FL. For their ceremony it was just R+K, their officiant, the sand, the ocean, and guess what? It was perfect. No timelines, no stress, the only thing on the agenda was to marry each other. After the ceremony we took photos and went back upstairs to refresh and sign the marriage license to make it official! Then we went back downstairs after all the formalities were over and ended by playing in the ocean. It doesn’t get much better than that folks! I’m so happy these two chose something that felt right to them and now they get to look forward to celebrating with family and friends next year!

Hold up- did I forget to mention the melons?! Here we go:

Why couldn’t the melons get married?
Because they cant-elope. *ba dum tsss* ?
Having a sense of humor is everything when your wedding has fallen victim to COVID and these two truly embraced it (and the melons). Congrats R+K!
